In April 2023, bit4you suspended all user trading and asset withdrawal capabilities following the financial collapse of CoinLoan, an external service provider holding a significant portion of platform assets. Subsequent formal insolvency filings and restructuring efforts mean the venue remains inactive for retail trading and account funding. Prospective users must look toward active platforms maintaining fully segregated, verifiably isolated custody architecture.
Thorchain
Thorchain occupies a distinct position in the decentralized exchange landscape by providing direct, native layer one asset settlement across previously disconnected networks. Traders swapping Bitcoin for Ethereum or Avalanche execute transactions without depositing assets into centralized custody or relying on wrapped representation tokens. Liquidity pools pair native external assets with Thorchain native utility token, RUNE, secured through a distributed validator network running threshold signature schemes. This structure removes custodial insolvency risk and centralized counterparty exposure. However, participants trade traditional consumer protections for technological complexity.
