About Us
About HodlCue
Provider comparison, a transparent ranking methodology, and free tools - built so crypto users can pick a provider on the merits.
We are an independent provider comparison and crypto education site. We help crypto users find regulated providers that fit their needs through structured provider data, hands-on research, and free tools - without paywalls or account requirements.
Why We Built This
Choosing a crypto provider is harder than it should be. Fee schedules are scattered across product pages. Regulation varies by country. Marketing copy obscures what a provider actually costs and how it actually works. We built the site so crypto users have one place to compare providers, learn the basics of self-custody basics, and pick a provider on the merits.
Our editorial focus is fee transparency and holder protection. We cover providers in the markets we serve and apply the same evaluation framework everywhere, so readers can compare providers on substance rather than marketing.
How We Operate
Editorial methodology
Provider rankings are produced by our internal methodology. We test providers with live and demo accounts, verify regulatory status against public registers, and document fee structures ourselves. Sponsored placements are labelled wherever they appear so readers can always tell paid and editorial content apart.
Published criteria
Our ranking criteria are public. The Methodology page explains every dimension we look at, how each is scored, and how the overall score is built. Every provider on the site is evaluated against the same framework so readers can see exactly what is being compared.
Free tools for crypto users
The crypto calculators, the provider-match quiz, the blog, and the glossary are all free to use. No account is needed and there are no paywalls. The tools are designed to support self-directed crypto users from their first provider search through ongoing holding decisions.
What You Can Do on the Site
- Compare providers on fees, platform features, regulation, and market access.
- Take the provider-match quiz to surface providers that match your priorities - fees, asset coverage, mobile experience, or support quality.
- Use the calculators for compound returns, fee impact, portfolio allocation, and other everyday crypto planning scenarios.
- Read explainers in the blog and glossary on topics like self-custody, exchange fees, tax reporting, DeFi risks, and how providers make money.
Sponsorships and Advertising
We offer two types of commercial placement, both clearly labelled:
- Sponsored provider placements. Providers may pay to appear in clearly labelled Sponsored Positions on comparison pages, category hubs, quiz results, and the homepage. Sponsored cards are visually distinct from organic results.
- Display Advertising. We display advertisements on certain pages of the site, including comparison pages, content pages, and calculator tools. Display ads are visually distinct from editorial content and served on a per-market and per-language basis.
How we make money
We have three disclosed revenue streams:
- Affiliate commissions. When you open an account with a provider through one of our links, we may earn a commission at no cost to you.
- Sponsored placements. Providers can pay for clearly labelled placements on our comparison pages.
- Display Advertising. Display ads are served on comparison pages, content pages, and tool pages.

Our research process
How our provider reviews are built
We test exchanges, wallets, and tools ourselves, verify security certifications and proof-of-reserves where they exist, and document every fee schedule - then publish the criteria so readers can review our work.
Every listing is a real, currently operating exchange, wallet, or tool - no shells, no clones.
Our scoring criteria are public - read the methodology and check our work.
Fees, features, and security details are reviewed every month - no stale data.
