What is Maker fee?

In short

The fee for putting an order on the book that sets the price, as opposed to taking one, and where the rate sits at five providers.

A maker fee is charged on a trading account when your order adds liquidity to the order book by setting a price rather than taking one. On a standard trading account the maker fee is 0% at ActivTrades, 0.111% at Ajaib, 0% to 0.15% at Alpaca, 0.15% at Anycoin Direct and 0.1% at AscendEX. Alpaca's figure is a range, so the same account can sit at either end depending on the tier it qualifies for. Market orders and volatile pairs are where taker fees pull ahead instead.
